Fall Décor: Learning That Less Is More
October always brings the urge to decorate. Everywhere I look there are pumpkins, mums, and cozy displays that seem to say, “This is what fall is supposed to look like.” For years, I thought that if my home didn’t look like those picture-perfect fall setups, I was missing something.
But this year, I’ve leaned into something different.
My porch is completely bare—no hay bales, no layered pumpkins, not even a wreath. And instead of feeling like I’ve failed at decorating, it feels freeing. It’s a quiet reminder that less really can be more.
Inside, I’ve added just a few thoughtful touches. A candle with a warm, spicy scent. A pumpkin on the table. A cozy throw draped across the couch. Small things that make the house feel welcoming without overwhelming the space.
And honestly? It feels better than the years when I tried to do it all.
The simplicity has given me room to actually enjoy the season—to notice the cooler mornings, to sip tea in the evenings, to let the falling leaves outside be part of the décor all on their own.
Less decorating has made space for more living.
This fall, I’m learning that creating a cozy, meaningful home doesn’t require filling it with more things. Sometimes it’s about choosing just a few pieces that bring joy, and letting the rest go.
Because at the end of the day, the beauty of the season isn’t found in how much we display, but in how much we pause to notice.
May your days be rooted and light,
