For a while, I struggled with getting dressed outside of work.

I had clothes—but not outfits I loved. Things that worked, but didn’t feel like me.

I found myself wearing the same basics, not because I wanted to, but because it was easy.

Then I tried something different.

I bought a maxi skirt.

And almost immediately, everything changed.

With just a skirt and the tops I already owned, I started creating outfits that felt effortless:

a chunky sweater with boots, a white top with a denim jacket and sandals, a simple t-shirt with espadrilles.

For the first time in a while, I felt excited to get dressed.

What I realized is that I didn’t need more clothes—I needed pieces that worked together.

Because I already shop within a consistent color palette—muted greens, blues, wine tones, blush, tan, and white—everything naturally mixed and matched.

So instead of trying to create new outfits every day, I found a formula:

Skirt + top + layer + shoes = done

Simple. Repeatable. Stress-free.

I also had a moment where I almost bought a new tote bag I saw styled with a similar outfit. It was cute, and for a second, I felt like I needed it.

But when I paused, I realized I already had what I needed.

A neutral crossbody.

A soft pink bag.

A patterned option.

That small decision reminded me of something important: balance is often about simplifying.

After purchasing a few more maxi skirts, they have become my go-to for church, weekends, and outings. They’re comfortable, feminine, and easy to style.

And instead of standing in front of my closet wondering what to wear, I already know.

That kind of simplicity makes a bigger difference than I expected.

Here’s to living beautifully in the everyday.
